TeleVue Paracorr

Coma correcting system for fast Newtonians. Newtonians of f/5 or faster shows a vast improvement in the diffraction limited field when a Paracorr is placed between the eyepiece and secondary mirror. No spherical or chromatic aberration is introduced. Introduces an increase in effective focal length of approx. 15%. A Paracorr incorporates a 'tunable top' which allows the correct distance to be set from the Paracorr lens to the field stop in a particular eyepiece. The Paracorr also produces excellent improvements to prime focus photographic images on fast f/ Newtonians. An important part of a large fast Dob armoury.

TeleVue Paracorr with tunable top - Price - £269

TeleVue Reducer / Field Flattener

Televue photographic reducer/field flattener.

Optimized for apochromatic and semi-apochromatic doublets. Also works extremely well on triplets that have no specific field flattening correction lenses. Not recommended for visual use. Two versions are available - 2008 optimized for focal lengths between approx. 400mm to 600mm, 3007 for focal lengths between approx. 800mm to 1000mm. E.g. Televue TV 76, TV85, TMB 80 f/6 and f/7.5, TMB 105mm f/6.2 require a 2008. Televue TV 102, and all other TMB refractors require a 3007.

ICS Accessories

ICS Narrow Band and Line Filters

Narrow band and line filters are designed to increase the visibility of emission and planetary nebulae which emit  wavelengths from very narrow areas of the visible spectrum. All of these types of filters create a condition where the background sky is darkened, but nebulae stand out in much stronger contrast.

Some filters are very specific. H-Beta for example, allows nebulae such as the California Nebula as well as the Horsehead Nebula in Orion to become visible, where other filters or an unfiltered telescope can hint at the 'area' of the nebula without actual visibility of the nebula itself. O III filter allows clear visibility of supernova remnants such as the Veil Nebula in Cygnus, and also presents a different perspective to brighter nebulae such as M42, the Orion Nebula, as well as clear visibility of planetary nebulae. The best general purpose filter is the UHC, as the line filters are hence more 'object specific'. All of these filters block transmission of sky-polluting wavelengths such as Sodium and Mercury from streetlights, hence for observers in built up areas such as towns or cities, these filters are invaluable. These filters do not offer an advantage for lunar or planetary images.

The filters work according to the interference principle with a multiplicity of metal layers, whose distance and thickness determine transmission of narrow or line bandwidths. The complex technology makes  narrow, hard defined transmission peaks possible with extremely steep flanks.

The glass substrate used are polished optical flats, allowing pinpoint star images, vital for retaining high levels of low level contrast. The coatings are a new developement, enabling the careful cleaning of these filters without the fear of scratch marks or signs of abbrasion appearing, a problem all too familiar with many nebula filters up to now. However, careful cleaning (i.e. non-vigorous rubbing) is still required to protect longevity of your filter. We believe that the ICS nebula filters are now the new standard in this area of astro-hardware, and we are pleased to be able to offer these filters to serious UK astronomers.

All filters are available in 1 1/4" and 2" sizes

Baseplate is 2.5 inches long, 2 inches wide and 1/2 inch high. Quikfinder is 4.5 inches tall, 1.4 inches square.

Jim Kendrix Dew Remover now available for QuikFinder.

.......and what they think of the Quikfinder............

'... Rugged and simple to use... It is the only unit tested that has a blinking reticle. A tiny knob next to the on-off/brightness control varies the rate from about one pulse per second to an attention getting flicker. At first I felt this feature might be a gimmick, but it proved its worth in the field. I could keep the reticle nice and bright and still see dim stars that disappeared under a constant setting.'
- David Regen in Sky and Telesope

'The Telrad isn't the only one-power finder in town. From Rigel Systems (the same folks who bring you those cool rectagular flashlights) comes this well sorted reflex sight.'
- Ed Ting in Scope Reviews web site

'The more I use the QuikFinder the more I appreciate its simplicity and usefulness. I highly recommend it. '
- Mike Weasner in Weasner's Mighty ETX web site

'This is just a fabulous addition to my ETX! It's never been easier for me to locate objects. I frequently bypass the finder and go right from the QF to the ETX eyepiece, since even at high magnifications, the object is usually in the field of view! '
- Joe Hartley's ETX and Accessories

Pulsguide

PulsGuide
Guiding Eyepiece Illuminator

Makes Astrophotography Easier!
Makes Finderscope Acquisition Easier
Pulsed reticle
  • Less Eye Fatigue = Better Astrophotographs -- PulsGuide pulses the reticle illumination to let the eye rest between pulses. The result? Improved contrast between reticle and faint guide stars for easier guiding and better astrophotographs or acquisition of faint object in your finderscope.
  • Two Knob Timing Control and Adjustable Brightness -- 2 knobs let you independently tailor on and off blink times from continuous on to long-on/short-off or short-on/long-off or anything in between.
  • Two Color LEDs -- Comes with red LED which you can switch to yellow LED by unplugging red and plugging in yellow. Some astrophotographers find low level yellow makes the cross hair clearer and sharper, and makes guiding even easier.
  • Available With or Without Eyepiece -- Use our quality, dual crosshair, 12mm Kellner eyepiece or with your eyepiece or finder. Fits standard 8mm threaded hole. 10mm and 14mm set-screw adapters available. Uses one long life lithium battery (included) that is available at most electronics, camera and hardware shops.
What they say about PulsGuide.........

'Some observers therefore prefer a cross hair that flashes on and off while guiding. For this reason, Rigel Systems designed a guiding light source called "Pulsguide", a simple but effective invention that pulses the reticle illumination of a guiding eyepiece during an exposure. On and off times and the reticle brightness are all variable and the unit is compatible with many existing guiding eyepieces. For guiding on very faint guide stars, I find this gadget invaluable.'
- Martin Mobberley in Astronomical Equipment for Amateurs.

'PulsGuide solves the problem of how to guide on faint stars while keeping the crosshairs bright. I use mine constantly. I prefer a yellow reticle illuminator because I'm sure my eye is focusing it in the same plane as the star.'
- Michael Covington, author of Astrophotography for the Amateur.

'...indeed with PulsGuide I was able to track stars that were virtually at the limit of what I could see in the eyepiece when no reticle illuminaton was present.'
- Dennis di Cicco in Sky and Telescope

'...fainter stars may be spotted and followed with greater ease...'
- Phillip S. Harrington in Star Ware
