The ideal first telescope. It combines optics providing the important necessary image quality for detailed lunar, planetary and deep sky views, with a solid pier supported simple German equatorial mount. As a complete telescope package, it outperforms all other budget telescopes in terms of stability and optical performance. The first rung on the 'sensible' telescope ladder.

The classic 6" f/8 Newtonian. Probably the most proven design, aperture and f/ of all telescopes in amateur use. In terms of optical quality and mount stability, this telescope represents excellent value for money, outperforming several expensive telescopes on lunar and planetary images. The 8X50 finderscope is one of the finest optical finders in the world, worth the entrance money alone, and yet is included in the price. This telescope is substantial in terms of solidity and weight. Not for the faint hearted.

Compact catadioptric instrument based on Klevzov's original advanced optical system design. The Klevzov-Cassegrain non-aspherical system presents a radical new form of catadioptric telescope that combines the compactness of a Schmidt-Cassegrain with similar enviable high resolution image quality and contrast of some modern Maksutov designs.
Klevsov's revolutionary catadioptric design employs a small sub-aperture meniscus correcting lens, combined with a Mangin mirror-lens secondary. Their fast focal ratios, flat field and excellent correction of coma, spherical aberration and astigmatism (14 micron spot sizes at a distance of 10mm from the optical axis) makes these superior instruments for astrophotography over other TAL telescopes.

The star of the TAL range of inexpensive telescopes. It will not give the deep sky views that the TAL 2M or TAL 200K show because these telescopes have a larger aperture and hence light grasp is greater, but lunar/planetary performance is exceptional for a refractor of this price range. Another example of how the Russians take great care in producing high quality optics. This telescope easily handles 50X per inch of aperture under good seeing conditions, embarrassing many larger and more expensive telescopes on lunar and planetary contrast. Achromatic doublet design has excellent correction for chromatic aberration even at high power, to the standard of a semi-apochromatc.

The TAL-100RS is an improved version of the popular TAL-100R, featuring a dual-fit 1.25"/2" extended travel focuser and superior internal baffling for enhanced image quality. The telescope features a multi-coated air-spaced achromatic doublet objective lens, that has excellent correction for spherical and chromatic aberrations. The aluminium telescope tube contains carefully ray-traced baffles to eliminate stray light, improving image contrast. Available either with the Deluxe EQ-5 equatorial mount with stainless steel tripod or as a tube assembly only.
